Merger with NonConformistMag?

Hey guys,

After much thought and discussion, I have decided on a possible course of action for this website. Of course this is open to discussion and/or change, but I think it would work pretty well provided that I have the agreement of the people running Non-Conformist Magazine.

Blogger has an option whereby a blog is outsourced to another domain name. This domain name can be the top page of the site (for example, http://www.nonconformistmag.com/) or a secondary page (www.nonconformistmag.com/apologetics/).All the HTML wizards in the group could work together to create a user-friendly frontpage with links to a few different subsections; Apologetics, Current Events, Political Activism, High-Tech, Opinion, Entertainment, Christianity (like most of the stuff David Ketter writes at The Account), and Christian Anarchy (a teen-centered outreach page) would be a few possiblities.

Only the feature article for the day/week would be on the main page: http://www.nonconformistmag.com/index.html.We would have a "different" blog for each section outsourced to a different subsection of www.nonconformistmag.com/.All the blogs would have the same layout, and every page would share the same color scheme and a header with links to the different parts of the website. Besides the blogs, we would have a "Contact Us" section and a "SiteMap" section and a "Search" section that would not be blogs but would still be under the top heading.

Advertisements would only be run on the individual blog pages, and they would only be the relevant ads that Google does; Google's AdSense program. These ads would fit the color scheme of the site but would still be bold enough to catch people's attention. We would probably locate them along the sidebar to make them easy for people to access.

Admittedly, it would take a lot of writers to keep the site constantly updated, but I estimate that nearly 20 people have expressed some kind of interest in the idea, and more than 10 are pretty sure they want to participate. Because of the easy Blogger system, it would be a simple thing to update the site; no global changes would be necessary during updates. What does everyone think?

In Him,

David S. MacMillan III

  • Your idea sounds solid.

It would be insanely to keep up a solid flow of articles though.

  • Sounds interesting... Although a little confusing in terms of how it works.
I'd love to help though. :)

  • With enough writers, it just might work.

I'll post an update on this blog once we get everything up and running. Then anyone who's interested in joining can email us and we'll see what we can do.

  • This is just to let you know that I will not be participating in Christian Anarchy should we merge with NonConformist mag...WAY too many theological issues with Gabriel for me...I would rather let you guys have your peace than create that sort of tension.
